Sam McGill

Sam has recently joined the team at Metzger to work as an Executive Resourcer. She works within the team sourcing candidates to fulfil our clients’ requirements. With a strong background within recruitment, she brings her wide knowledge of commercial environments. Sam’s strengths lie in her interviewing skills – listening and questioning to fully understand a candidates’ experience.

Sam has worked in large corporate organisations to SME’s in both manufacturing and service organisations. Sam has over 15 years commercial recruitment experience sourcing candidates from middle management to Director level.

What is the best part of your role?

I enjoy interviewing candidates to truly understand the nature of their role and experience.  Being a good listener helps to draw the most from the candidates I talk with and ensure I thoroughly understand their experience.

What values do you look for in a candidate?

Possessing a can-do approach and a willingness to learn.  Making the move to a new company requires both for a successful hire.

What would be your best career advice?

Work hard, be willing to learn and always adapt. A career will involve many changes along the way (big or small) and having a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances will help.

Can you name one person who has really inspired you and why?

That is a hard question. Many different people inspire me for different reasons, but I tend to prefer those who have triumphed in the face of adversity.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I like to stay fit and have taken up yoga in the last two years. Good for both body and mind! I enjoy spending time with my family and mini-poodle. I also enjoy watching football! I also dream of owning a property in Majorca… maybe one day.
