Role Title: Operations Director

Salary: Circa £120,000 plus excellent benefits

Location: Midlands/Hybrid

Our Client, a leading Supply-Chain solutions business with a “world-class” end-to-end distribution strategy, are looking to attract a dynamic and experienced Operations Director to lead and optimise the operational activities of their business.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, this high-profile role will see you take accountability for the financial and operational management, leadership and direction of multiple warehouse operations and the distribution network. With clear accountability for identifying and developing opportunities for growth and profit, you will engage in a high level of client interaction and drive innovative continuous improvement across your operational portfolio. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the entire supply chain from procurement and inventory management through to transportation and distribution.
  • Managing the development of the Operational Strategy, with leadership and management of operational activities across various sites, alongside the distribution network, through a centralised hub and final mile destinations. 
  • Leading operational teams to meet and exceed operational and customer KPI’s whilst adhering to quality and safety standards. 
  • Supporting and leading commercial discussions with existing and potential new clients as appropriate to support organic growth of new and existing business.
  • Playing an active role and contribution to the UK senior team to meet with the wider UK and Group objectives.
  • Implementing and utilising data driven processes and technology solutions to drive operational excellence and enhance decision making.
  • Developing and ensuring operational processes are in place to define standards that drive best in class performance.
  • Working alongside Commercial and Customer Service Teams to lead the operational integration of new business implementation and ensure the smooth transition into Operations, meeting the required service levels.
  • Managing the Operational budget, identifying cost saving opportunities and implementing strategies to increase profit revenue

    Candidate requirements:
  • Experience at Director or Senior level within a similar environment with direct experience of the logistics industry either through a 3PL or in house environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience of managing multiple teams in multiple locations.
  • Demonstrable strategic and commercial acumen with strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly, engage and influence key stakeholders and clients.
  • A solution focused individual, with a constant drive to improve performance with a bias towards action and the ability to get things done.
  • Enthused by creating and delivering purpose and outcomes, challenging environments and business transformation.
