Supporting the company's rapid expansion of services, the Commercial Financial Manager will take responsibility for managing the financial aspects of project work and ongoing operations. This will mean being close to the commercial and operations teams involved in planning, negotiating and delivering contracts, while also being a key member of the day-to-day financial management team.
Reporting to the CFO alongside the Corporate Financial Manager, the main duties of the Commercial Financial Manager will be:
*project budgeting alongside the operations team, managing the financial planning for the delivery of new projects
*costing and pricing new projects
*financial control of projects from budgetary signoff through delivery to live running, including managing each implementation project's profitability and cash flows
*liaison with the operation and management (O&M) team to ensure maximum efficiency during the life of the installation post-implementation
*monitoring the financial performance of each product and each client site, and making suitable recommendations to senior management
*analysing the monthly variances on forecast turnover and margin, and recommending potential courses of action
*keeping abreast of developments in all areas of the business, including new product development, margin analysis, customer spend, stock procurement, management and logistics, and project delivery
*financial review of potential new services, liaising with colleagues across all departments
*both ad hoc and regular internal and external reporting: producing clear and succinct management information to assist Directors
*monthly review of operational expenditure and preparation of accruals and other journals for the monthly management accounts
*covering for the Corporate Financial Controller in time of absence
Skills and Experience
*ACA or ACCA qualification
*Several years' experience in an SME environment in either a Management Accountant or a Financial Manager role
*High level of literacy, written communication and analytical skills
*High level of numeracy & commercial judgement
*Advanced proficiency in using Excel to analyse and present data
*Self-starter with an inquiring mind, and a keen problem solver
*Robust personality capable of taking a firm line, while generally working collaboratively
The company's information systems are based around Microsoft Dynamics NAV and JET reporting, so familiarity with these systems would be beneficial but training will be provided.
