Job Description
Excellent opportunity for City of London Livery Company Clerk
Salary: Full Time £55,000 to £60,000 plus benefits
Location: Home working with flexibility to travel to London
The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners is a progressive, modern Livery company with a vibrant membership of circa 150 members. Founded in October 1972 as the Guild of Master Cleaners, it achieved the status of a Livery Company in October 1986, becoming the 97th Livery Company in the City of London and was granted its Royal Charter in 2010. Whilst the pageantry and ceremony are an important part of the organisation, the key objective is to maintain high standards within the environmental cleaning industry and raise money for the many charities that they support.
The Company entered an exciting new development stage in 2021 when it was granted Chartered status enabling the Company to create and maintain a Register of Chartered Practitioners in Environmental Cleaning and related occupations.
With this recent development and plans to further increase the membership, there is an opportunity for an experienced individual to become the Clerk. Reporting to the Master, the Clerk is the General Manager of the Company and oversees the day-to-day operations and activities.
The role involves three distinct areas of responsibility:
Administration and Finance
• Works closely with the Master, Honorary Treasurer and Wardens
• Provides advice to the members of the Court (Board of Directors), Finance and General Purposes Committee, Registration Authority and Trustees of the Charity Trust
• Is the primary contact, manages and maintains relationships with membership, external companies and committees
• Holds responsibility for all administration including agendas, minutes of meetings, updating records, insurance, maintenance of Company assets and supports the strategic development of the Company
• Acts as the hub for media and social media communications
• Works closely with the Treasurer to maintain and manage the financial records, banking and produce the annual report and accounts
PA to the Master
• Works with the Master to plan the events for the year ahead and manage the formal event diary and Members annual calendar
Event and Project Management
• Responsible for the smooth organisation and running of the Company’s formal events
• Books all venues, prepares and manages event budgets and associated costs
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Strong planning and organisational skills with experience of delivering high quality results
• Fantastic attention to detail
• Superb administration, financial and event management skills
• Excellent IT literacy with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mail Chimp, Trello, Dropbox, LMS and Event Planning software
• Knowledge of managing social media campaigns and platforms
• Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels and have tact, diplomacy and discretion
• Initiative to work remotely and be a team player when required
• A solution orientated approach
• High standards of integrity, professional and personal conduct
• The skills, knowledge, experience and gravitas to always be an ambassador for the Company.
Whilst we are keen to engage with individuals who are already Livery Company Clerks or running membership organisations, we are also interested in hearing from candidates who have the relevant transferable skills, knowledge and experience gained in other roles and sectors.
This is a fantastic and unique opportunity to join this progressive membership organisation as it enters its next phase of development. If this sounds of interest and you feel you have the necessary experience and skills, please send your CV in Word format quoting reference 32140 to Emma.DAngelillo@metzger.co.uk
